Travel baseball offers a competitive environment for young players who want to elevate their skills and play against top competition. Our Fall Select season involves advanced practices & workouts as well as single-games, double-headers and tournaments against other travel programs in and around Orange County. Unlike recreational baseball, our program requires a serious commitment from players and families.
To join Southies Select, you’ll need to participate in tryouts. Here’s some information to help you decide our program is right for you:
Players from any league or city may try out for our program. We will offer teams from 9u-14u. The age breakdown is as follows:

Our plan is to assemble at least one squad of 11-12 players per age group (9u-14u), but we may form a second or third squad in certain age groups if there is enough interest and talent.
Practices will begin in mid-August, games and tournaments will begin in September and the season will conclude the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Most of our games will take place in and around Orange County. Our Fall season consists of 10-14 league games against other local travel baseball programs, 1-2 local tournaments, and possibly one out-of-state tournament at the end of the season in either Nevada or Arizona (will be determined team-by-team).
The 12u team will travel to Cooperstown, New York in Summer 2025 for a week-long national tournament.
There will be at least two practices per week (days to be determined by team manager). Games will primarily take place Sundays (mostly double-headers), with a possibility of some games being scheduled for Saturdays.
We understand that most kids play other sports in the Fall. We encourage kids to play multiple sports and not just year-round baseball. That said, this is not a half-time program. We cover many advanced aspects of baseball that require the kids to be in attendance to learn and develop as players and a team. While we don’t expect 100% attendance, we expect players to be in attendance for at least 2/3 of our practices and games to be a part of our program.
We don’t charge monthly dues. There will be a base-fee paid at the beginning of the season which covers uniforms and all of the season’s practices. There will also be a per-game fee charged each week for tournaments and regular games, so you will pay for as much as you are able to play.
We believe Little League baseball is a fun and essential part of being a young ball-player. We also understand that some players want to continue advanced travel baseball in the Spring. To allow the best of both worlds, we offer a Sunday-only select team that does not interfere with the Little League season whatsoever. No practices are held during the Spring for the Sunday-select team. We only play games on Sundays against other travel programs and play in a year-end local Memorial Day tournament.
More information regarding our Spring Select program will be released later this year.
